Title: Zborul
Autor: Angie Sage
Titlu original: Flyte
Nr. pagini: 543
Seria: Septimus Heap #2

Tradusa de: Irina Bojin
Editura: Corint

O puteti achizitiona de pe Libris:

Recenzia primei carti o gasiti:

[AICI]

Or sacrifice her soul.

1. What inspired you to write Awakened?

My father-in-law gave my husband an antique
knife that was passed down to him from his father. When my husband pulled the
copper sheath from the engraved blade I envisioned a wave of magic escaping and
transporting the beholder to another place and time.

2. Do you have any book recommendations for
fans of fantasy?

The Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder and the
Graceling books from Kristin Cashore.

3. Do you have any future stories in the
works?

Yes. I am currently writing Transcended,
the sequel to Awakened. I also have a young adult Viking story and a middle
grade story outlined.

4. Who is your favorite super hero?

Not counting my boyfriend Tony Stark, I’d
have to say Nightcrawler from the X-Men.

This or That

Zombies or Unicorns

Unicorns

Skittles or Chocolate

I actually have a hidden chocolate room in
my house.

Damon Salvatore or Stephen Salvatore

Eric Northman J But between
the two offered, Damon.

Gandalf of Dumbledore

Blood and Snow: The Complete Set by RaShelle Workman
Publication date: 2013
Genre: YA Paranormal
Add it to: Goodreads

All the volumes are interesting because of the idea. I have never read a remake of Snow White and even if it's with vampires is different and the book has some nice moments. Girls you have to read it because you'll fall in love with the beautiful boys from it.

Every thousand years the Vampire Queen selects a new body, always the fairest in the land, and this time she's chosen Snow White.

Snow isn't an ordinary girl. She doesn't know that yet.

When Snow gets bitten by a Hunter, her life is thrown into a whirlwind of change where instead of worrying about what to eat, she has to fight not to drink the blood of fellow high school students. She becomes a revenant - not quite human, not quite vampire.

With the help of an eccentric old Professor, his seven adoptive sons, and her best friend, Snow learns to control her blood craving. Sort of. She drinks a bloodlust tea, but she'd rather drink from her Hunter.

Or, a human.

She also discovers a whole other realm, one filled with fairies, dragons, and magic. And not only does the Vampire Queen want her, but there's a pendant called the Seal of Gabriel created for Snow by the Vampire Queen's twin sister. And Snow's supposed to use it to restore balance to all magical creatures. Including vampires.

“Welcome
to my secret fortress, Silindra,” Titan said.

I
grunted my response, walking past him to the doorway in the mountain, its entry
bursting with light. The surface my feet touched was smooth and hard, like
polished rock. But it wasn’t rock. It was some kind of iron. It swayed
slightly, and I grabbed hold of the rails.

This
is incredible,
Snow White said.

I
agreed wholeheartedly. Metal catwalks crisscrossed each other, reminding me of
a spider’s web. Tall beams rose to the ceiling where millions of lights shone.
It was as though Titan harnessed a portion of the sun, and somehow held its
ray’s captive within.

In
the center of the mountain, and vertical, reaching the top and I guessed
touching the bottom, was a thick grated tube. Inside the tube were two sets of
stairs. One used to walk up, and the other for down. A steady flow of occupants
used them; exiting through archways onto walkways like the one I was on. The
walkways led to large, cylinder-shaped holes carved into the mountain.

Cautious,
I glanced over the side and felt my throat drop into my stomach. A seemingly
endless amount of walkways weaved from the center stairs, and downward.

I
took a deep breath, noting the tang of something sour, like curdled milk. The
voices of thousands echoed as trolls, fairies, gremlins, and other magical
creatures busily rushed around. Like a strange city.

“What
is this place,” I finally asked.

“This
is Varden. The place where all the scientific magic happens,” he responded,
pushing his bulky body past me, walking briskly along the path. The metal
shuddered under his weight, and I held my breath. Snow let out a tiny scream.

I
tried to calm my nerves and Snow’s.

It’ll
hold him,
I told her and myself. And I hoped I
was right.

When
he reached the stairs, he turned. “Do you want the strength of a troll or not?”

Lifting
my chin, I said, “Of course I do.”

This is a weekly meme hosted be Parajunkee and Alison can read.

This week's question:

Q: Is there a song that reminds you of a book? Or vice versa? What is the song & the book?

It's a little bit hard to think, but this song sometimes reminds me of The Phantom of the Opera by  Gaston Leroux. I really loved this book. It made me cry. It's not really a connection between the song and the book, but both of them make me feel the same emotion. I was listening it when I was reading the book.

Uitati [AICI] concursurile. :)

In rest ce mai ziceti? Inca sunt in stand-by cu concursul pentru 100 followers fiindca nu am ce sa dau momentan si habar nu am ce fac de paste. Bine ca blogul e inceput in februarie. :))

First of all I'd like to thank Ivan for the book because it was exceptional. Is one of the greatest book received for review. I was a little bit lazy with the review because of school but now I can say my honest opinion about the book. It was an unusual read(in a good way) because the war Light vs Dark was different, the energy battle creating an amazing world. I really appreciate the well balanced description with the other elements, because I tend to get bored of too much of it. Here it wasn't the case because the fictional world created was breathless. Trying to imagine the world described, I let myself surrounded by colors and waves of energy,a truly beautiful spectacle.

The action started good, not too suddenly and slowly the reader gets captivated by the mystery that is around Jason and his friends, Debbie and Matt. The conflict between light and dark gets another perspective because of the power used to control the people and also the hidden world that they can't see because they are "unsightened". The fighting parts were so breath-taking, reading and reading to see who will win.

The bond between the characters was so strong and this made everything intense. I must say that even if Jason was the Beholder and the main character , the one that I liked the most was Emily because she was strong and hardly showed her emotions that were in her heart trying to protect the others. She managed to accept Jason fast and the love story was so nice, but the end of the book left me with no words. I just didn't know what to do after reading it. I can't wait for the next book! I need to know what will happen. I'm sure you'll truly love this book just like I did. Blame me if you don't!

An urban fantasy writer, an avid beta-reader, proofreader and editor who enjoys reading fantasy, crime and thriller books.

I love active protagonists who get into a lot of trouble on their way to the truth, and never give up whatever happens to them.

I love watching action movies like The Matrix, Harry Potters and have a soft spot for sitcoms like Friends and The Big Bang Theory.

"The Beholder" is my debut paranormal fantasy novel. This is what Joe Kovacs, #1 Amazon Bestselling Author of "Ginger the Gangster Cat", said about it: 'THE BEHOLDER is a tight and fast-paced thriller combining the crawling claustrophobia of Stephen King's "It" and the exciting arcane symbol-hunting of Dan Brown's "Celestine Prophecy"'

A HarperCollins editor said in their review of The Beholder: "[Amberlake] shows a real passion for language in his descriptions."

UPDATE! ROMANIAN

In primul rand as vrea sa-i multumesc lui Ivan pentru carte deoarece a fost exceptionala.

It always starts like this. My vision starts to blur and the
depth of the dirty brick walls plummets into a single plane, like I’m staring
into an abyss that never ends. Pins and needles prick their way over my body
and I fall backward, sinking through layers of sticky black sludge. I land with
a thud and David is before me speaking urgently. His eyes are lined with
confusion and anger.

“Piper, I don’t like what you’re doing. Please, for the sake
of our mother and our friends, put an end to it now,” he says to me. We’re at our
place in the mountains, the stars peering onto us like frail paper lanterns. I
look at him seriously, my hand over my mouth, mind reeling at what he’d said.

“You don’t understand, David. I love him,” I reply, feeling
tears brim my eyelids.

“… … ….” David’s lips are moving, but the noise coming out
of his mouth is like raw static.

“I can’t hear you. What’s going on?” I ask. He looks like I
just slapped him in the face.

“I can’t believe how selfish you are! “… … … ” He shouts,
then comes the static again.

“David, I think there’s something wrong right now. I haven’t
done anything!” I cry frantically, grabbing his shoulders and shaking him. He
brushes me off and gives me a hard stare.

“People are going to get hurt, Piper. I need you to
understand that!” he shouts.

“I don’t understand, David!” I plead, “How are people going
to get hurt?”

I hear more static come
from his mouth, but he doesn’t seem to notice, he just keeps talking, clearly
thinking he’s telling me something important. Frantically, I look around for a
clue as to what is going on. When I turn back to him, David’s face starts to
deteriorate and his body fades away to dust.
